Intriguing mystery with lots of suspense that captivates the reader from the "get-go". The character development is exceptional. Mr Bolinger's knowledge of the medical field is evident and adds to the credibility of the plot.
It was very hard to believe that this was the author's first book. It was a well developed story with many twists and turns. Great characters, fast paced and really enjoyable. I am definitely going to read his next book and wait anxiously for any that follow. I would highly recommend this book to everyone!!!
If you like John Grisham mysteries you are sure to enjoy Darryl Bollinger's The Medicine Game. He develops the characters well and describes the scenes so you feel like you are there, yet keeps the action going through the entire book. A very enjoyable read
This is a heck of a read and had me hooked from the first page. It is entertaining, fast-paced and easily holds one's attention. There are several "gotcha" moments when you least expect it. I 'specially liked "Joe"...a hero. Buy The Medicine Game...I'm betting you won't regret it.
Recommended by my beautiful aunt. As always she right again. Probably comes from raising four ugly boys. Good story, held my interest well thru out book. Good ending which is hard for some authors. Will buy another book by this author whenever it is available. Keith Tucker, Hallsville Texas
Author Bollinger's first novel is a definite success. From the opening page it grabs you and keeps you hooked until the thrilling finale 300 pages later. The story has excellent characterizations, you really get to know the main protaganists, and moves at a good pace - by that I mean not too fast. There is a good story at the core and Bollinger keeps the story moving with enough plot twists to keep you guessing until the end.
Just as a point of comparison, after I read "The Medicine Game" I next read the Karl Alexander sequel to "Time After Time" called "Jacklyn the Ripper". It was also around 300 pages and billed as a thriller. I must say that I enjoyed "The Medicine Game" hands down over the other book. A good author has that something that hooks you into the story and compels you to know what happens next. Like Michael Connelly and Douglas Kennedy, Bollinger weaves a good tale. I am looking forward to the next one already.
I read a fair amount of e-books and take chances with first-time authors on occasion since their efforts are often less expensive yet entertaining. The Medicine Game falls into this category.
The author uses coastal Florida as a backdrop for three friends/co-workers who stumble across a conspiracy involving the use of a new heart medication. Because they all work in the same hospital and superiors may be involved, they proceed with caution when it appears the medicine may not be an effective treatment. Their investigation proves to have deadly consequences anyway. Since millions if not billions of dollars are at risk, the stakeholders are determined to protect their investment putting the friends in danger. Throw in some beaches, boating and bars you have a fun mixture for a quick moving story.
If you enjoy a fast-paced good vs evil with a touch of romance novel, give this one a try. Be ready for an unexpected twist and turn along the way!
